Juicing fruits is not as nutritious as eating whole fruits. With juicing, the fibre especially, and some water soluble vitamins, are lost during the process. Fibre is an essential nutrient for a healthy digestive tract. It aids the smooth movement of solid waste, prevents irritable bowel syndrome, constipation and reduces the risk of certain cancers especially colon cancer.

For the health conscious, commercial fruit juices as a substitute for whole fruits or freshly squeezed home-prepared juiced fruits, should be a no, no. This is because, commercial fruit juices are high in sugar and low in natural nutrients.

Whole fruits are nutritional more dense than 100% fruit juices and therefore, healthier. One good example that comes to mind is oranges. Orange juice, though refreshing and delicious, is missing the white pulpy part of the fruit. This part is the richest part of the orange, because it is high in fibre and flavonoids. So, when eating an orange, do make sure you are eating the whole fruit, especially the white pulpy or solid inside of the fruit.
